Project Overview

The City of Newton, Kansas required upgrades to the existing Waste Water Treatment Plant. UCI was contracted to provide general contracting services to construct the new treatment facility. Challenges for the project consisted of maintaining treatment operations while constructing new concrete basins within the facility. UCI constructed a new biological treatment basin of cast-in-place concrete 268'L x 100' wide with 2' thick outside walls 23' high. Two new circular clarifiers 60' in diameter and a sludge pumping building with a 130' x 100' digester were also constructed. UCI successfully renovated an existing headworks building be removing the precast building, maintaining equipment operation and construction a new 2-story precast building. The project also consisted of a new concrete vehicle access bridge and extensive site paving.
