Okmulgee Wastewater Treatment Plant
Project Owner CP Kelco Project Delivery Method Design-Build Completion Date / Total Time for Project August 2003 / 10 months Project Value $11 Million

Project Overview

Located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, this is the largest bio-fermentation production plant in the world. With the City of Okmulgee unable to meet the demand of the industrial waste produced, CP Kelco commissioned EarthTech and UCI to construct an $11 million dollar wastewater treatment plant.

This project put in place 8,000 cubic yards of concrete and almost 600 tons of steel. Work began in November 2002 and included two anaerobic basins, two aerobic basins, a headworks structure, decant and sludge tanks, a one million gallon equalization tank, an administration building which houses the belt press and Bioset, and an effluent pump station with UV treatment for the two and one half miles of 18 inch effluent pipe.

With approximately 30% of the initial design in place, UCI worked hand in hand with Earth Tech and CP Kelco to make the 1.5 MGD plant operational in only 10 months from groundbreaking.
